Man Contracts STD, Holds Bar Liable

They Offered Sex for P600
Olongapo - Subic City

Miramar never thought that the man who was in the throes of pleasure in her embrace in one of the cubicles of the dingy club had a secret. While she bagan pleasuring him, whom she offered to bring to heaven for a price, the man was giving signal for his fellow operatives to come in; not to join the fun, but for them to see enough of the evidence they needed to nail her down.

Operatives of the Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team came just in time to see Miramar Revanta, 27, and her guest, a civilian agent, having sexual intercourse. Three other club entertainers of the La Luna Club, located in Bgy. Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales, were arrested. They were identified as Evelyn Abad, 35; Rhea Espiritu, 19; and Ceilo Lachica, 25. Their maintainers, Precy Cruz and Lorna Cuypers, escaped the "tight police dragnet."

Supt. Richie Medardo Posadas, provincial police director, said Cruz, the alleged pimp, had offered three civilian agents posing as costumers to have sex with any of the bar girls for P600. She also required a bar fine of P1,200. He said when one of the civilian operatives agreed, he was led to a cubicle where the girl of his choice was waiting. The CIDT operatives came in and found the girl in the act of having sex with the agent.

Police recovered the P500 and P100 marked money. The key suspects, however, "miraculously" escaped arrest despite a number of operatives sorrounding the club. The four girls were charged with prostitution, while Cruz and Cuypers were charged with white slavery.

German tried in Philippines for stripping

February 12 2007

Manila - A 66-year-old German man was hauled to court in the Philippines on Monday for dropping his pants at the airport after being annoyed by stringent security measures at the facility, officials said. Airport officials filed public scandal charges against Hans Juergen Oskar von Naguschewski, who was on his way back to Frankfurt when the incident happened last Friday at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Angel Atutubo, assistant general manager for security at the airpost, said von Naguschewski stripped when being told to walk through the x-ray gate twice after the machine sounded the first time he passed through. Atutubo stressed that airport security officials were only following regulations.

"What we are doing is being done and implemented as standardized international regulation in all international airports in the world," he said.  Von Naguschewski said in a Manila television interview he did not understand the procedure and apologized for his behaviour.

"The man kept saying 'take off, take off' but the shoes were already off and the pants were alone," he said, apparently referring to the fact that he was not wearing a belt. "So what else would I take off," he added.

The German has to stay in the Philippines pending the resolution of his case. It is still unclear if airport officials would drop the charges after his apology.

Cleared for Landing
Sept 2006

BUTUAN CITY — Thieves ran away with runway lights and got away with it.

It took Philippine Airlines (PAL) pilots about to land their aircraft from Manila to notice that the runway lights were missing at the Butuan City airport last Wednesday. Initial investigation indicated that thieves apparently pulled a fast one, unnoticed by the airport security personnel and workers at the tower of the newly refurbished Butuan City airport in Barangay Bancasi.

Reports from Caraga Police Regional Office claimed PAL pilots in last Tuesday’s flight from Manila to Butuan wondered why the puppy lights were off at runway no. 12 despite foggy visibility due to signs of bad weather. The pilots, whose names were not disclosed immediately, notified the control tower but tower personnel assured the pilots who were preparing for landing that they had already switched on the lights at Runway 12.

The pilots insisted the switch wasn’t on. This prompted the control tower personnel to call the attention of security personnel on the ground to check the runway lights, only to find out that all lights and wires were gone, carted away by thieves.

Reports said the PAL pilots could only chuckle in disbelief how robbers could easily cart away the runway lights and wires undetected in the wide open space of an airport. The Air Transportation Office (ATO) here is investigating why the theft went unnoticed despite round-the-clock security measures that were intensified following threats of terrorist bombings in Philippine airports.

‘Vasectomy day’ mulled in Pampanga
By Ding Cervantes
The Philippine Star
09/15/2005

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Amid a shortage of condoms, regional executives of  national government agencies in Central Luzon plan to declare a "vasectomy  day" in at least one barangay here to lure more men to resort to vasectomy  to curb population growth.

"We want Barangay Sindalan to be a center for vasectomy," said Dr. Juvencio  Ordona, regional director of the Department of Health (DOH) during a press  presentation of the State of the Philippine Population Report here the  other day. "We cannot afford to have a vasectomy center for each barangay so we  envision some in the municipal and city levels. We have established a  vasectomy center in Sindalan and we plan to have a ‘vasectomy day’ there,"  he said.

Rose Fortaleza, regional director of the Commission on Population (Popcom),  said vasectomy acceptance among Central Luzon males is only at one percent.  There is a 50-50 ratio between males and females in Central Luzon.

"There are no more condoms," Ordona said, noting that the US Assistance for  International Development (USAID) has carried out its "withdrawal formula"  in the grant of contraceptives, including pills, to the Philippines.

He cited the need to promote vasectomy, particularly among those in the  lower economic brackets, saying that in Central Luzon, married couples  belonging to the so-called A and B economic classes have an average of two  to three children, while those in the C, D, and E classes have an average  of six children.

Ordona said the government is promoting vasectomy among men instead of  tubal ligation among women since "vasectomy can be done even under a tree,"  while tubal ligation requires clinical conditions. Ordona said the DOH, Popcom, the Department of Social Welfare and  Development and other national government agencies in Central Luzon have  joined hands to curb population growth in the region by making family  planning services available and convincing people that such services need  not be costly.

He said PhilHealth cards can be used for vasectomy, which costs only about  P3,000 in government centers, compared to about P15,000 in private clinics  or hospitals. With a population of about 8.3 million, Central Luzon has the third biggest  population in the country, accounting for 10.50 percent of the 76.5 million  national population.

Its annual population growth rate is 3.20 percent, which surpasses the  national growth rate of 2.36 percent. The median age of its population is  22 years. If the current trend continues, the population (in Central Luzon) is  expected to double in 22 years, increasing by an average of 200,000 per  year, regional Popcom officials said.

The government’s vasectomy project is expected to trigger a controversy  with religious leaders in the region where majority of residents are Catholics. Ordona, however, said the government is merely offering the people a choice  for family planning.

"We have no quarrel with the Church. We are advocating more choices for  family planning, without intimidation, without incentives, but only the  services for people who come to us," he said.

Neighbor's who ate dog monitored in hospital

MANILA (AP) - Nine people who ate their neighbor's dog are being monitored in a hospital isolation ward in North Cotabato, after the canine's owner died from rabies, a local official said Wednesday.

Teresita Estanol, a 48-year-old farmer and mother of four, died Friday, said Mayor Efren Pinol of Magpet where Estanol lived.

The dog bit Estanol in mid-August and several days later her angry neighbors, apparently unaware that it had rabies, killed the animal and ate it, the mayor said. Dog meat is a delicacy in some parts of the country.

Playful Janitor Falls To His Death

A 27year-old janitor died after falling from a car garage on the sixth floor of a building in Malate, Manila the other day. Teddy Realo, of Hornet street, Palar Amor Village, Makati City, died at the Ospital ng Maynila while undergoing treatment for a gaping head wound.

Realo worked as a janitor of the Landbank Plaza building along M.H. del Pilar street in Malate, Manila. Fellow worker Joel Balajadia told police the victim was quite playful and would find satisfaction at being chased around. He would then stand on the ledge of the car ramp and feign jumping from the sixth floor. He delighted in seeing the look of panic and fear in his co-workers.

According to Balajadia, the victim performed this stunt on him that day. While standing on the ledge, Realo warned him, "Wag kang lalapit, tatalon ako." The witness said the victim lost his balance and fell on the pavement below. Security personnel tending the car park who heard a loud thud, rushed the victim to the nearest hospital.

Man Contracts STD, Holds Bar Liable
Manila Standard Today 4/26/05

A man accompanied by his wife, filed a complaint yesterday against a beer garden in Malabon City. He claimed to have contracted a sexually transmitted disease after having intercourse with one of the beer garden's workers.

Christian Cordeta, 22, of Aluminum Street, went to the Malabon Police community precinct 4 where he lodged a complaint against the owner of Shining Gold KTV Bar along McArthur Highway in Barangay Potreno. Cordeta wants the city government to hold the beerhouse liable for his having contracted STD and is seeking the establishment's closure to prevent other customers from "suffering the same fate."

Cordeta said he and two friends went to the beerhouse on the night of April 20 to unwind and relax. Upon entering the establishment, they were immediately assisted by the floor manager who introduced them to their guest relation officers. They took one of the VIP rooms where Cordeta was allegedly offered sex by one of the GRO's for P1500. He accepted and after three days, he was diagnosed to have gonorrhea.
